| Since 1983 Gauntlet has been the established market leader
for the placing and servicing of risk and insurance requirements of medium
and large sized hotels.
Gauntlet was first introduced in the 1970's by Lloyd's broker Anthony
Gibbs. It really started to develop as a wholesale facility from 1983
after joining forces with a scheme operated by CT Bowring for the British
Hotels Restaurants and Caterers Association.
In 1997 Gauntlet briefly became an Insurer controlled arrangement when
Bowring sold it to Groupama. Following Groupama's withdrawal from the
hotel sector, in June 2001, Landau Manson took custody of the Gauntlet
brand with the aim of restoring it as the UK's leading Hotel broking facility.
The major constant through Gauntlet's varied stewardship has been an
attractive premium and cover offer whenever hotel owners have been prepared
to invest in good risk management, maintenance and refurbishment practices.
